The Engineer in Training exam is composed of 180 multiple choice questions broken in to two sessions, a morning and an afternoon. During the morning session, the group answers 120 multiple choice questions covering a broad variety of engineering topics; all examinees take the same test despite their given discipline in the morning.
In the Afternoon session, another 60 multiple choice questions geared to the test takers specific discipline are answered. This specialty is chosen prior to taking the test and falls in to one of seven disciplines; Mechanical, Environmental, Civil, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, and Other Disciplines (formally referred to as General).
